Diffraction

The problem with writing is that it revels too much. Each space is a confession. Each period, a sin. Regardless of how much effort we put in choosing carefully, every word gives us away. Between what we decide to type and what we decide not to type there is a universe, an endless space of figures and voices. As authors we believe we are shaping the sentences, the paragraphs, the ones we want. We know the beginning, we control the story, we decide the end. Pobrecitos! Instead, the stories have chosen us, we are reveled by our question marks. "Hummingbird" - I write - and hummingbird is telling my upbringing, defining my present, whispering my fate. Every word is giving us away. That what we type, what we delete is showing us whole and we cannot see. The readers know. It is the readers who can actually figuring us out, understand the meaning, recognize the vast reach of our writing. You.
